[ Beleth's voice tries for her usual calm composure, but there's a definite strain, and tiredness. ]

Are you busy? I want to talk to you--it's not bad. I want to do something nice for Alistair, and I'd like your help.

Hm? Oh. Um. Sure. [He sounds a bit confused, but not unwilling.]

Where are you? I'm in Skyhold, so I can meet you pretty quickly.

[onlyhymns]

Uhhhhh....

[A pause. Full of thinking.]

...I can... meet you in the courtyard?

[Definitely with clothes on.]

[arlathvhen]

[ Where's the fun in that. ]

The courtyard works! I'll see you there.

[ And sure enough, she'll in the courtyard, sitting on a pile of bricks. They're her chair, now. ]

[Cade appears looking a little concerned but very clean, to the point where his hair is poofy from having been very recently towel-dried.

Ser Quackinus remains behind, to reveal himself another day.]

So, uh... [Cade vainly attempts to smooth down his curls, which he clearly hasn't had time to attend to properly.] ...what are you doing?

[ One day, Ser Quackinus.....

Meanwhile, Beleth turns to face Cade, and gives him a fond, amused smile when she sees the poofiness of his hair. Without thinking, she reaches up to try to fuss his hair into order. ]

Alistair's been a bit gloomy lately, so I thought doing something....silly, but fun would cheer him up. I was thinking...of dressing Doghren like a princess, and playing some music. Maybe having cake. It'll be like a little doggy ball.

[Cade instinctively leans away, but not before she can at least bat at a tuft of hair. Then he realizes he's being rude and bends back down again, but by that point it's too late. Oh well.
He has multiple questions about this plan, ranging from why Alistair is gloomy to what kind of music, but there's one detail that sticks out more than the others.]

...dogs can't have cake.

[ She stops her hands when Cade leans away, but resumes the fussing when he bends back down, giving him another little smile. At his words, however, she looks thoughtful. ]

How unfortunate for dogs. Maybe we could get a little steak and put gravy on it, so it looks like a cake?

--And. Normal cake, for us.

[onlyhymns]

[He takes some time to consider this, then nods measuredly.]

...yeah, that might work.

[arlathvhen]

Excellent. And what I need you to do, is very simple. Get Alistair out of his room and distract him for a bit, while I'm setting things up. Then take him back to his room. Maybe I'll give you a secret code over the crystal, like...'The ball is open.' That means you can take him back.

[onlyhymns]

[Seems reasonable enough. Cade nods, and looks back over his shoulder. He can do this.]

All right.

[arlathvhen]

Thank you. And--um. You can stay, obviously. I wouldn't kick you out. If you want.

[ A small pause, and she frowns. ]

I wouldn't blame you if you didn't. Not when everyone seems to feel that way.
